Ontario is the first jurisdiction in Canada to mandate and regulate accessibility standards in Canada for public, broader public and private sectors in all key areas of daily living. The purpose of the Act is to make Ontario accessible for Ontarians with disabilities by 2025 and provide for the involvement of persons with disabilities. Last fall, the WSIB appointed Dr. Harry Arthurs to conduct a one person review of its funding strategy and other related financial considerations. This was initiated in order to get them on track by reducing and eventually eliminating the unfunded liability which has jumped to almost $12 billion.

CEO Advisory re Solemn Declaration

CEO member firms should be aware that for Ministry of Infrastructure projects funded under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, there is a Solemn Declaration of Substantial Completion”. This “Solemn Declaration of Substantial Completion” is attached to each of the Ontario recipient contribution agreements and Proponents are required to submit this declaration when they seek to formally close out a project.
