Douglas Chalmers Award for Safety
Criteria for the Douglas Chalmers Award for Safety:Individuals - A Person who has performed exceptional service in the cause of construction safety by their actions, contributions or in a manner considered worthy of recognition by the judging committee.
Groups, Member Companies & Associations - Those who have demonstrated extraordinary creativity, leadership, or development of procedures that have added to the advancement of health and safety within the construction industry.
Items that may be considered:
- Innovation
- Creation of training programs or communication programs
- Publications
- Committee and volunteer work
- Teaching and training of others
- Inspiration for Outstanding Achievement and Contribution in Safe Work Construction activity in Ontario.
- Positive Evidence of Strong Safety Record for past 2 year period.
- Most recent WSIB Reports.
- Letters of Recognition for Safety Performance.
- Evidence of (year to year) Safety Record Improvement.
- Evidence of past/future commitment to Construction Safety Education/Training.
- Letters of receipt of other Safety Distinctions (if applicable).
- Evidence of developing / evolving Company Safety Manual and Safety Policy
- Acknowledgement of being LTI Free for 2 Years and Fatality Free for 5 Years, prior to the award year.
Judging Procedure for Douglas Chalmers Award:
The Judging Committee shall be made up of one member of the OGCA Executive (who will Chair the committee), the Chair of the OGCA Safety Committee, two members of the OGCA Board of Directors and a representative from CSAO. The committee shall review all submissions and notify the OGCA Board of Directors of their selection. The Award will be presented at the OGCA Annual General Meeting.
