Our Association

Founded in 1939 by a group of eleven general contracting firms, the OGCA has developed into the largest representative association in the construction industry.

With 217 members, alliances with other Provincial Associations and partnerships with the Canadian Construction Association and Council of Ontario Construction Associations, the OGCA is instrumental in lobbying all levels of government on behalf of the construction industry.

In 2002, the OGCA led the successful lobby action against Bill 124. This bill would have required contractors to carry Major Structural Defect insurance that would have skyrocketed costs and slashed profits.

Each year, the OGCA saves its members tens of thousands of dollars by interceding in contract disputes. The Early Dispute Resolution Program has rescued and restored a healthy contractor-owner relationship time and time again.
