Partner Programs
Excel Thru Learning
The OGCA has joined with Excel Thru Learning to provide members with training and development opportunities. Many of the programs provided will be Gold Seal Certified.
Excel Thru Learning (ETL), a division of Patricia DeMers & Associates, was created over 13 years ago with the vision of "Inspiring Others to Achieve." Their approach is to work with businesses to motivate, inspire and improve employee effectiveness, productivity and job satisfaction by delivering innovative learning opportunities.
Members can attend programs on site at the OGCA offices or sign up for eLearning programs done on a computer using the internet.
To accommodate the construction environment, classroom programs will run on Saturdays, evenings and half days between Monday and Friday. All classroom programs will be scheduled well in advance to allow for planning.
Clive Thurston President of the OGCA said he is pleased to work with such a well respected organization and sees this as the next evolution of the OGCA education program.
The OGCA has a mandate to provide education and training to the industry. Our efforts over the last few years have been extremely successful and with the expanding demand for Gold Seal, we needed to find a suitable partner to meet the challenge. This partnership allows us to concentrate on the updating and creation of new programs and courses with Excel delivering and assisting in the promotion of courses. We will also continue to work with many Colleges to introduce Gold Seal and management training into their programs as well as launch new programs with OGCA partners. This initiative combines well with our development of a video education system that will come on line in early 2009.
It will enhance our reach to members all over Ontario and complement an upcoming tour of Colleges and high schools by Thurston to promote construction as a career and the Gold Seal accreditation. So far, five colleges and several schools have registered for the presentation including Georgian College, Mohawk, Conestoga, Sault Ste Marie and others. "This will be an exciting opportunity to promote the industry to potential future employees," said Thurston.
