OGCA Names Craig Lesurf as OGCA Chair

The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) is proudly announcing the appointment of Craig Lesurf, as Chair of the association.

“I want to help change the industry for the better,” said Craig. “Being involved in an organization with the strength and depth of the OGCA provides me with a voice to improve workplace safety and encourage fair and balanced contracts – two of my priorities as Chair.”

Craig has served on the association’s Board of Directors, and has chaired the OGCA Safety Committee, for over 11 years. Craig is co-founder and former Chair of the League of Champions, a cross-sectoral construction health and safety advocacy group founded in 2015 by the OGCA. Craig is a health and safety advocate – with a lifelong mission to raise the standard of workplace safety in construction.

Craig also recognizes that one of the biggest issues facing general contractors is fair and balanced contracts.

“We’re all about balanced contracts and making sure that the owners aren’t putting onerous supplementary general conditions in front of us,” said Craig. “That’s not fair to us because once we accept these supplementary general conditions then we pass them on down to our subtrades and so everybody in the food chain can be affected by our decisions. It is up to us to be advocates for fair, balanced contracts.”

Craig is President of Gillam Group and a seasoned construction professional with over 21 years in senior management positions. Craig is widely recognized as a leader and advocate in the industry – where he helps advance solutions to some of the industry’s most pressing challenges and educate the next generation of professionals.

“I’m looking forward to working with Giovanni (OGCA President) and OGCA staff. The idea is that I’m here to support them and they’re here to support me. Together we can do some good things for the OGCA and the industry and help advance the good work of the previous Chair, Jim Blair.” notes Craig.
